art,

as a verb, originally slang (from articulate) for a specific affected manner of speech; arting as a communication mannerism is long gone but the word survives by generalization: now to art is to speak, move, act in a way that has torque — to perform, knowingly or not, a piece of art of whatever endurance. The words sting is an ironic contextual ambiguity between art thats intended but not necessarily effectual (I arted my bewilderment. He shrugged) and one that is effectual but possibly unintended (He would occasionally art a jerky somersault in mid-air); at the scale of generations, cultures tend to swing between “inflation” (everything is art: combinatorics) and “deflation” (almost nothing is, art is the rarest jewel: fusion).
